“You can be such a dumbass, Dale”
“Excuse me I am not a mirror” I looked at him, he had green eyes that mocked a dragon’s and an oversized dragon at that, he had short, pink hair. I looked back at what he had handed me paperbound, the cover read “Virgin Man” colorful markings filled the page a superhero basic normal. Cape flowing, hands-on-hips. Colors; bright orange and green, contrasting enough to pop but not enough to cohere.
“Dumbass”
“What? Ok, your loss” he reached for the book, I withheld the book bringing towards my chest. “I thought you didn’t want to read it?” he asked
“You can be such a dumbass, of course, I want to read it, you’re my best friend.” I opened it and started reading
Robot Kaila and her new fellow allies try to destroy the world and virgin man takes time off his duties to stop them
“Okay I’m getting star wars vibes I like it…” I start reading getting more engrossed in the story as it goes on at one point Virgin Man calls the main villain Kaila a slut. I audibly gasp
“Virgin man is about to lose his fucking life if he doesn’t take that back!” Dale’s taken back
“Okay I’ll take it out it’s not my opinion or anything it’s just a random sentence I made up”
“Kaila is the best villain so far, she stands up for what she believes in even when it’s not necessarily in the right.”
“That’s just my sentence, jeez I’ll take it out” I nod reaffirming my beliefs. I continue nearing the end. Getting more and more hyped up the reveal who will win and will virgin man finally come out?
Another friend Cole comes up. Uhh, Cole, he takes one glance at me reading on the floor and says
“Writing is stupid”
“What?” I answer
“Not you” he gestures to Dale
“Okay Cole” dale answers
“And that’s why your GPA starts with the number 2” I jar, he sneers and walks away
I finish the story and I’m in shock I cannot believe what I read so I had to reread a couple of times. The ending changed how I look at things and my perception of reality,
but I won’t spoil it.
Note; I personally know Virgin Man and I would credit him but you know, you can’t know superheroes personal identity.
